Tuesday, 12 June 2018 | PNS | Dehradun– A contingent of 155 new recruits joined Indian Army when they passed out from the Kumaon and Naga regimental centre Ranikhet on Monday. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat was present on the occasion to witness the ‘Attestation Parade’ of the contingent held at the historic Major Somnath Sharma Ground of Ranikhet. The event was also witnessed by the Colonel of the Kumaon and Naga Regiment and Kumaon Scouts Lieutenant General B S Sahrawat, and Commandant, Kumaon Regimental Centre, Ranikhet, Brigadier G S Rathore. Passing out contingent of the recruiters enthralled the audience with a perfectly coordinated parade. After the parade the ceremonial oath taking and the award ceremony was held. The CM of Uttarakhand who was the chief guest on the occasion awarded the recruits who had excelled during training. In his speech the CM remembered that since his late father Pratap Singh Rawat was also an armymen so he also understands the glorious tradition of Indian army. He expressed immense pride and satisfaction in witnessing the youth of the state stepping forward in the service of the nation. The CM also mentioned that soldiers of the State of Uttarakhand have served the nation with great courage, honour and sacrifice since time immemorial. He heaped praises on the spirit, enthusiasm and courage of newly recruited soldiers. The Parade was witnessed by large number of military and civilian dignitaries, officials of the State Government and by visiting tourists and locals Ex -Servicemen.
