Service halted for 24 hours

With the Kedarnath Yatra having just started, 14 horses and mules operating along the yatra route have died within two days due to suspected equine influenza infection, forcing the authorities to enforce a 24-hour ban on the service as a precautionary measure.
Speaking of the matter, the State Animal Husbandry secretary, BVRC Purushottam said that a central team is arriving in Rudraprayag to probe the causes behind the sudden death of so many horses and mules in just two days.
