11 years of Modi Govt laid foundation of strong India: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the period of 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi have laid the foundation of a strong and developed India. Addressing a Press conference at the State headquarters of the BJP on Tuesday, the CM said that under leadership of PM Modi, India has created a distinct identity on the global stage as a strong, capable and self-reliant nation.

He said that the 11 years of PM Modi have proved to be important for the preservation and promotion of our rich cultural heritage.  He said that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana is proving to be a boon in the field of health.  The CM said that the ‘Make in India’ mission has powered the Indian economy and it is now the fourth largest economy in the world.

Mentioning the social security schemes, the CM said that in the last 11 years, more than 27 crore people have come out of the poverty line in the country. He averred that the last 11 years have witnessed bold decisions like abolition of article 370, ban on triple talaq and the CAA. 

 He said that India is not only making indigenous defence equipment, but is also exporting it to the world. India’s ranking in ease of doing business has improved from 142 to 63 globally. Dhami said that the government has given relief to the middle class by making an income upto Rs 12.75 lakh free from tax.  

The CM said that the Modi government has given an impetus to infrastructure development due to which 99 per cent of villages have been connected with roads and 34 km of highways are being constructed every day in the country. Rail and air connectivity has also expanded rapidly. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act has paved the way for women to get 33 percent reservation in the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies. 

Dhami said that under the guidance of PM Modi, work is being done rapidly in every field in Uttarakhand. The construction work of Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line is going on very fast. The Delhi-Dehradun elevated road project is nearing completion

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has warned that the State government will not hesitate to act against big fishes and crocodiles involved in the corruption cases and recent action on senior officers in land scam in Haridwar bears testimony of the government’s resolve. Interacting with the media-persons at the headquarters of the State BJP here on Tuesday, the CM said that no one, no matter how powerful he or she might be, will not be spared if found involved in corruption. He said that in the recent under construction bridge collapse incident in Tharali in Chamoli district, swift action was taken and three engineers of the Public Works Department were suspended and the government will ensure that the monetary loss is recovered from those responsible for the collapse of the bridge. Dhami averred that the State government will continue to adhere to the policy of ‘zero tolerance on corruption’.

Uttarakhand has a visitor footfall which is much more than its population and the State government is working in the direction of creating necessary infrastructure for them, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said while interacting with the media persons. He said that due to the huge inflow of tourists, traffic jams are occurring in places like Rishikesh and Nainital. He informed that Uttarakhand has a visitor footfall of about eight crore in a year which is much more than its total population which is about 1.25 crore. The CM said that the State government has requested the team of 14th Finance Commission to take into account the floating population in the State while deciding State’s share in Central taxes.
