11 Years of Modi Government known for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas

Trivendra Singh Rawat

The eleven-year journey from May 2014 to 2025, after the Narendra Modi government came to power has written a new chapter in India’s development history.

The governance model was based on Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas (Collective Effort, Inclusive Growth and Everyone’s Support), as a result of which more than 270 million people across the country were successfully brought out of poverty as per the latest report of International Labour Organisation (ILO).

The extreme poverty rate has dropped from 27.1 per cent in 2011-12 to just 5.3 per cent in 2022-23. This achievement is a major milestone toward making India a poverty-free nation.  According to a recent report released by the World Bank, there has been significant improvement in both rural and urban areas along with an increase in employment across the country.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has also made tremendous progress in reducing multidimensional poverty and has strengthened its position on the Global Economic map. Initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), Digital India, Make in India, Startup India and PM Garib Kalyan Yojana have not only reinforced the country’s economic foundation but also set new benchmarks in inclusive growth.

1. Accelerating Economy

India has risen from the tenth position to become the fifth-largest economy in the world, and is now ranked fourth. Despite global pandemic COVID-19, India maintained stable GDP growth. In 2023-24, India’s GDP growth rate was recorded at over 6.5 per cent, the fastest in the world. According to estimates from almost all global rating agencies, India’s growth rate is expected to surpass that of other nations.

2. Digital Revolution

The Digital India campaign has made India a leader in digital payments, online services and e-governance. UPI (Unified Payment Interface) has bridged the gap between rural and urban economies, connecting millions of Indians to the formal financial system. This has led to maintaining transparency in transactions.

 3. Infrastructure Development

The world’s highest railway bridge built over the Chenab River to connect the Kashmir Valley with the railway network stands as a testament to India’s unmatched engineering excellence. With initiatives like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, Bullet Train project, and schemes promoting water, road, rail and air transport, along with the Prime Minister’s Rural Road Scheme, the country’s logistics efficiency has increased significantly. The length of national highways has doubled in comparison to 2014 and continues to grow. Today, infrastructure development is generating new employment opportunities and accelerating commercial activities.

4. Boost to Manufacturing

Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, domestic and foreign investments are increasing and significant progress has been made in sectors like defence manufacturing, semiconductor production and mobile phone assembly. India is now among the top countries in mobile manufacturing. The export of these domestically produced goods to other countries is also increasing.

5. Agriculture and Rural Development

Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, millions of marginal farmers receive financial assistance annually while rural development, schemes like Swachh Bharat (Clean India), Ujjwala Yojana, and Har Ghar Jal are being implemented to improve the living standards in villages and free them from debt trap.

6. Poverty Eradication and Social Security

With the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana and PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, a large section of society—especially the millions living in poverty—has been provided access to nutritious food and economic security.

The past 11 years of the Modi government have been a remarkable example of economic reforms, structural changes and inclusive development. During these years, India has not only reached new heights of economic progress but taken powerful strides toward self-reliance and global leadership.
