10 more new cases reported positive for Covid-19 in Dehradun

The cumulative number of positive Covid-19 cases in Dehradun has risen to 54 following the report of 10 new cases reported on Saturday. Informing this, the chief medical officer (CMO), Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma confirmed that among the 10 new cases, six were local residents while four were migrants.

With this, out of the cumulative total of 54 cases, 42 are local residents and 11 are migrants while one case originated in Haridwar. “Currently, there are nine active Covid-19 cases in the district. Six individuals are receiving care at home while one is being treated at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and two at Subharti Hospital,” he stated.

Dr Sharma also said that 20 samples were tested for Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the overall number of samples tested to 440. Importantly, there have been no reported deaths from Covid-19 in Dehradun so far.

In the light of the rising cases, the Health department has recently issued an advisory regarding Covid-19. Earlier, the Health secretary, R Rajesh Kumar informed that the Health department plans to launch a special campaign aimed at raising public awareness about Covid-19. This initiative will provide information on the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’. 

The ‘Dos’ include covering the nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing or coughing, avoiding crowded places and washing hands thoroughly with soap and water. On the other hand, the ‘Don’ts’ include not reusing used tissues or handkerchiefs, avoiding handshakes and maintaining distance from individuals who exhibit symptoms of illness, among other precautions.
