Panic gripped Chamgadar Tapu near Rodi Belwala in Haridwar on Monday morning after the body of an unidentified person was found in the area. Upon being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered an unclaimed loader which was allegedly used to dump the dead body at the site. The body was identified to be that of a resident of Ram Leela Maidan Haridwar at the district hospital where it was taken to. The body was later sent for post-mortem.
According to police, when questioned over the identity of the deceased, the people of Rodi Bella said that the body of the youth had been brought to the place through the loader. The vehicle from where the body was found was impounded by the police. The body was identified to be one of Deepu, 38 by the family members when they reached the district hospital.
Later in the day, the brother of the deceased lodged a complaint with the police, saying that his brother had gone to the Sadhbhawna Pariwar Sewashram Gaushala the previous day and met the manager of the ashram Arun Sharma. As per the complaint lodged with the police, Deepu had been murdered there and his body had been dumped at Chamgadar Tapu. Following the complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased, the police have launched a manhunt for the accused Arun who was on the run.
Speaking to The Pioneer, the in-charge of Haridwar police station Naveen Chandra Semwal said, “We have identified the deceased and the interrogation is on. We have launched a search operation for the manager of Ashram Arun Sharma who is now absconding. The vehicle through which the body was brought to the place where it was found was impounded.
