Work in double-shift to finish construction works for Kumbh 2021- CM
Work should be undertaken in double-shift to expedite the construction works for Kumbh Mela 2021. Officials involved in Kumbh Mela works should prepare a clear road-map of works to be done at their level and ensure completion of the works on time. Government orders for permanent works for Kumbh Mela should be issued soon for works regarding which the government orders have not been issued yet. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat issued these directions while chairing a meet to review preparations for Kumbh Mela to be held during 2021 in Haridwar. Rawat said that deadline should be set for construction of all the bridges to be made for the Kumbh Mela. Timely construction of the bridges will make the construction of roads more convenient, he said.
It was stated in the meeting that Rs 402 crore has been approved for permanent construction works out of which Rs 154 crore has been made available to the departments concerned. Rawat said that if private organisations want to construct bathing ghats at their own expense, technical support should be provided to them. He stressed on the need for special focus on sanitation and removal of encroachments in the Mela area. Directing that security be provided to prominent representatives of Akhadas, Rawat said that arrangements for the Kumbh Mela should set an example for future events too. Work on undergrounding the electricity and gas pipelines in the Mela area should be expedited. All that is required for the Kumbh Mela arrangements will be provided, he said, while stressing that all officials should work in coordination.Focus should also be laid on maintaining the identity of Haridwar considering the spiritual aspects of Uttarakhand. The CM also directed that strict approach be adopted against anti-social activities and that effective measures be taken for removal of encroachments. Stating that the Kumbh Mela is the world’s biggest religious and spiritual fair, he said that crores of people from across India and abroad are expected to arrive here to attend it. Elaborate arrangements will have to be ensured accordingly.
The State’s Urban Development and Housing minister Madan Kaushik said that the success of Kumbh Mela is linked with joint efforts by all. Asking all officials concerned to understand their responsibilities, he also told them to take cognisance of suggestions received from members of the religious fraternity. Focus should also be laid on demarcation of the Kumbh Mela area and developing necessary infrastructural facilities in the new areas.
Chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, principal secretary Anand Bardhan, secretaries Amit Singh Negi, Nitesh Jha, Arvind Singh Hyanki, Garhwal commissioner Ravinath Raman, director general (law and order) Ashok Kumar and Kumbh Mela officer Deepak Rawat were also among those present in the meeting.
