On the lines of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Kisan Kalyan Yojna, the State Government is planning to introduce a scheme for providing finance to women Self Help Groups (SHG) at low interest rates, said the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat while addressing a public meeting at Bhaniyawala near Doiwala on Sunday. He said that the State Government aims to strengthen the women SHGs so that the economic condition of the rural women is bettered.
The Chief Minister inaugurated construction works for 90 km of roads in Doiwala at an estimated cost of Rs 29.19 Crores on the occasion. He said that the State Government is working in the direction of developing all 670 Nyaya Panchayats as growth centres and at Thano (Garhwal division) and Kotabagh (Kumaon Division) training and production centres would be started. At these centres LED bulbs would be prepared.
Rawat told the gathering that he was planning to inaugurate the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) at Doiwala on the occasion of Makar Sankranti but due to delay in arrival of machines from overseas, the event had to be postponed.
He claimed that the work on CIPET would commence by February -March and about seven thousand local youths would get employment in the institute.
The CM also inspected the ITI building earmarked for being converted as CIPET and assured that no hindrance in the studies of 47 students of ITI would occur. Informing about the intention of his Government, he said that the plan is to reduce permanent expenses of the Government and spend the saved amount in developmental works. Emphasising the importance of gravity water in providing drinking water, he said that he has asked the officials to find prospect of providing gravity water to Udham Singh Nagar from the proposed Pancheshwar dam.
The plan to use Song River to provide gravity water to Dehradun is also on anvil, he said. The use of gravity water would save power on a large scale.
The CM said that the sex ratio of the Pithoragarh district has improved in last seven months.
He said that the districts of Pithoragarh, Hardiwar and Champawat were directed to start extensive campaign to improve the sex ratio and in Pithoragarh district the sex ratio has shown a a marked increase from 813 to 914.
The CM inaugurated many road construction projects on the occasion.
The programme was attended by the senior BJP leaders Shamsher Singh Pundir, Naresh Bansal, Sunil Uniyal Gama, Asha Kothari and others.
