Cong to corner govt on Gairsain, disinvestment of THDC and Char Dham Shrine Board
The opposition Congress party would try to corner the government on issues like Gairsain, disinvestment of THDC, Char Dham shrine board and price rise during the winter session of assembly. In the meeting of the Congress parliamentary board held in the office of the leader of the opposition Indira Hridayesh strategy to corner government on the issues of public interest was discussed. Later talking to the media persons, Indira Hridayesh said that the winter session of the assembly is being held after almost six months and during this time issues like uncontrolled price rise, sale of THDC, purchase of sub standard buses for Uttarakhand roadways and steep hike in prices of milk and dairy product has occurred. She said that the despite claims of the government, the sugarcane farmers are yet to get their dues and the farmers are also not getting proper rate for the paddy. The LoP also said that the Congress party would also raise the issue of the Uttarakhand government’s decision to create a Char Dham Shrine board. Giving hints of the Congress party’s plan to raise the issue of Gairsain, the deputy leader of the Congress in state assembly, Karan Mahra said that the Uttarakhand assembly has unanimously resolved to hold at least one session of Vidhan Sabha at Gairsain but this year not even a single session was held in Gairsain which is unfortunate. He said that more than Rs 100 Crore have been spent on setting up infrastructural facilities at Gairsain and in such a situation, session should be held at Gairsain.
Had no talk with CM on Gairsain: Indira
The LoP Indira Hridayesh emphatically denied that she had suggested chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat for not holding winter session at Gairsain. Talking to the media persons, she said, “I had no talk with CM on the issue. Leave alone CM, I have not been contacted by any minister on holding session at Gairsain,’’ she said. The LoP made it clear that she is of the view that at least one session of assembly is organised at Gairsain. On former CM Harish Rawat’s plan to hold a fast at Gairsain, she said that she got information about his plan to hold fast from the newspapers and the facebook. She however quickly added that Rawat is general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and he can do whatever he deems fit and the Congress party would support him in his every venture. It is learnt that in the meeting of the Congress parliamentary board, the MLA owing allegiance to Harish Rawat questioned the party leadership on its stand on Gairsain.
