The Congress party suspends its week long agitation programme by one month.
The president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Pritam Singh has said that the Congress party respects the verdict of Supreme Court (SC) in the Ram Janmabhoomi case. He said that India is a peace loving country and everyone should work towards maintaining peace and harmony. He said that the Congress party appeals to the members of all communities and religions to follow the high values of love and brotherhood enshrined in constitution and maintain peace and harmony. “ It is the responsibility of every citizen of the country to make sure that the centuries old tradition of mutual respect and harmony is kept intact,’’ he said.
The Vice President of the state Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana also said that the stand of the Congress party on the issue was always clear that everyone should respect the judgment of the SC.
In an important development, the state unit of the Congress party has suspended its week long agitation programme by one month. The party has taken this decision in the wake of the SC judgement on the Ram Janmabhoomi case. The vice president of the party, Dhasmana said that the party has taken the decision to postpone its agitation plan so that social harmony is not affected. The party had decided to hold week long agitation on all district headquarters to register its protest on failure of state and union governments.
