A special commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary by political parties
As part of the special commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, the Bharatiya Janata Party will undertake a 150-kilometer long march in all the Vidhan Sabha constituencies from Tuesday. This activity will be inaugurated by the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at Thano in Dehradun and the BJP state president Ajay Bhatt at Haldwani.
The BJP media in charge Devendra Bhasin informed that the party is observing a special commemoration of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary across the nation. As part of this initiative, 150 kilometer long walks will be started in all the Vidhan Sabha constituencies on October 2. The local MLAs will lead the walks in all the assembly constituencies while senior party leaders will head the walks in constituencies not represented by BJP MLAs. At least 150 party workers will participate in the walks in each constituency. A target of covering about 10 kilometers per day has been set for this purpose.
‘Congress aping BJP by holding Pad Yatra’
Lacking any vision or creative programme, the Congress party has resorted to aping the BJP by holding Pad Yatra on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Stating this, the BJP state media in charge said that whenever the BJP announces any programme, the Congress tends to copy it and declare its own programme accordingly. This has also happened in the past.
Congress to march on Gandhi Jayanti
The state Congress workers would embark on a commemorative walk across the state to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday. “The ideals Mahatma Gandhi embodies are respected across the world. The world reveres him as a leader whose message to the humanity retains its relevance even now,” said the state Congress vice- president Surya Kant Dhasmana on Monday. He further said that the leaders and the activists of the party would embark on commemorative walks in all the districts of the state on Tuesday by way of paying respect to the father of the nation. “The walks would start from the district party headquarters,” he said.
He said that the in Dehradun, the party workers would gather at the state party office at 10 am and the walk would start thereafter. “The commemorative march would be led by the state party chief Pritam Singh. It would pass from Astley Hall, Clock Tower, Paltan Bazaar and Dispensary Road and would culminate at Gandhi Park,” he said. Read more post…
