Cultural programme and symposiums were held in several schools in Haridwar to mark the birth anniversary of the nationalist monk Swami Vivekananda. Vivekananda Vichar Manch hosted cultural programmes and symposium in Shivalik Nagar during which huge donations were collected for the children from unprivileged families.
The students of Madhuram School for underprivileged children and Divya Sewa Mission presented dance ballets.
The patron of the organisation J C Kwatra led the prayer with those gathered from various fields like education, administration, religious outfits and social organisations joining it.
MLA from Ranipur Adesh Chauhan presented gifts to the students who performed well and encouraged them to grow up while serving the society on the lines laid down by Swami Vivekananda .
Presiding as chief guest on the occasion, the founder of Adhyatm Chetna Sangh Acharya Karunesh Mishra said that Swami Vivekananda is the ideal of the youth. “His soul- stirring messaged fill us with strength when we face trying times. Vivekananda’s oratory was so powerful that everybody who listened to him was left mesmerised,” he said.
He further drew comparison between the verses of Bhagavad Gita and those of Swami Vivekananda.
Sunil Mukherjee moved the audience with the song he sung on Swami Vivekananda. The president of SIIDCUL industrial Association Arun Saraswat drew some witty and humorous anecdotes from the life of Swami Vivekananda.
The convenor of the programme Naresh Mohan also spoke on the occasion and elucidated the principals the monk embodies.
