Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the state cabinet took various decisions that would benefit various segments. The number of free medical tests in government hospitals for golden card-holders of Atal Ayushman Yojana under national health mission has been increased from 30 to 54. Further the remuneration for ASHA workers and doctors working on contract with AYUSH department has also been increased. These and more than a dozen other decisions were taken by the state cabinet in its meeting which continued till late in the evening on Friday.
Informing about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting, cabinet minister and state government spokesman Madan Kaushik informed that now golden card holders will be able to avail of 54 free medical tests. Further, 11,651 ASHA workers will now get Rs 4,000 monthly and Rs 5,000 annually. The Rs 250 paid to ASHA facilitator per visit has been increased to Rs 300. The cabinet also granted its approval to hiking the amount paid to doctors on contract in the AYUSH department. In accessible areas, this amount has been increased from Rs 36,000 to Rs 45,000, in inaccessible areas from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 and in highly inaccessible areas from Rs 44,000 to Rs 55,000. The cabinet also decided to grant the Corbett Foundation, the authority to spend the revenue generated from tourists visiting Corbett tiger reserve. This money will be spent on the conservation of wildlife. The service manual for constables, head constables and two other ranks of the Uttarakhand provincial armed police was also promulgated by the cabinet. In addition to this the land use of about 1,19,000 square feet of land near the Hotel Alaknanda in Haridwar has been changed from Mela area to commercial. The cabinet also granted its approval to creating 25 posts in addition to 27 posts in the Uttarakhand food safety department. Approving an amendment in the Uttarakhand micro, small and medium enterprises policy, its period was extended from March 31, 2020 to March 31, 2023. A one year relaxation has also been granted from the prohibition on employing personnel on contract in the medical services. This will also be applicable to medical colleges. The cabinet also granted its approval to school adoption policy. Under this, an industrial enterprise will be able to adopt and operate a school that is in dire circumstances. This system will be operated under the monitoring of a committee under the district magistrate.
