The growing popularity of Valentine’s Day stretching to week- long celebrations shows the importance of love in life these days. Though various ways have been devised by the lovers to show the sincerity of love they feel for their beloved ones over the years a common shift in the mode of celebration of the day is being marked this year.
The shift has been from gifting articles, flowers and gadgets to spending quality time with one’s Valentine, just sharing the feeling of togetherness. And remember, the new age Valentine can be one’s family member or one’s role model too.
Arun Saraswat, president of SIIDCUL Industrial Association, said, “I love to be with my beloved on the day. When together, we are apart from the surging crowd. Maybe, thousands may pass us by. But we remain focused on each other without the least of distractions. This is what the celebration of the day means for me.”
A psychological counsellor Namrata Mishra says, “As per study of human psychology, people are happier when giving rather than when receiving. So, Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to give. This does not mean that the romantic partner alone is the person to be made aware of the depth of one’s love. It can be anyone who means something to you,” she says.
Vishal Singh, a professional working in pharma company, said, “I celebrate the Valentine’s Day with my parents. As I live away from them I miss them too much. This is why I have taken day off on the day to pour my feeling over them. I would spend time with them on the day. Nothing is more gratifying than this as I am what I am thanks to the pains they have taken for me.”
