UPNL told to facilitate temporary jobs to unemployed & others

Additional chief secretary Radha Raturi has written to the managing director of Uttarakhand Purv Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) to implement the cabinet decision regarding provision of jobs to Uttarakhand residents rendered unemployed due to Covid-19. The UPNL facilitates outsourced jobs to ex-servicemen and their legal dependents according to the requirement of governmental/semi-governmental departments and public institutions. However, due to conditions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic and the Garin Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan on the initiative of the prime minister, it is necessary that Uttarakhandis who have returned to the state be provided temporary employment  near their residence on the basis of their experience/eligibility/skill through UPNL. Considering this, UPNL has been directed to provide temporary employment for 11 months to skilled candidates registered till March 31, 2021 including those rendered unemployed by the pandemic and others for jobs as per the requirement in health, housekeeping, hospitality, technical and other sectors wherein ex-servicemen and their dependants are not available.
