Unemployed youth stage sit in outside edu minister’s residence
Demanding withdrawal of the recent changes made in the recruitment process of primary teachers, the members of the federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed youths held a demonstration outside the residence of education minister Arvind Pandey on Friday. On finding that the minister is outside the city, the agitated members of the federation staged a sit in outside his residence and resolved to continue their protest till state cabinet accepts their demand.
The President of the federation, Arvind Rana said that the thousands of the unemployed B Ed –TET qualified candidates are agitated on unwarranted change in selection criteria of teachers. He warned that the Federation would intensify its agitation if their one point demand of following the old pattern in selection of primary teachers is not accepted. Rana added that the state government should immediately cancel the recent amendment in the recruitment pattern. The demonstration was attended by large number of unemployed youth.
The members of the federation are annoyed at the state government’s decision to change the ‘ Teacher recruitment guideline’ which dispensed with the practice of following a pattern in selection of Primary teachers in which the year wise seniority of doing the B.Ed degree was considered paramount in making the merit list for selection. There are thousands of the B.Ed, TET qualified unemployed youths in the state.
