Following luke warm response purportedly given by the State Education Minister Arvind Pandey to the delegation of the trained Yoga unemployed federation when they met him on Thursday, the federation has threatened to launch a full-blown agitation. On the day, a delegation of the federation led by its president Rakesh Semwal met the Minister and demanded the State Government to appoint one Yoga teacher in every government school in the State. Later, the president of the federation said that the unemployed yoga instructors are angry with the response shown by the Minister and have decided to start an agitation.
He further said that it is unfortunate for the State Government to ignore the demand of thousands of the trained yoga instructors for long. Semwal said that the State Government should fulfil its promise of appointment of Yoga instructors in the Government schools without any further delay.
“It is very depressing that the State Government has started Yoga classes in the schools without Yoga teachers. The education department has distributed Yoga books worth crores of rupees in the schools but it keeps on ignoring the demand of job of the trained Yoga instructors. Uttarakhand is the unofficial capital of Yoga in the world but it is equally true that politics has upstaged Yoga which is detrimental for the state,’’ he said.
“The federation is agitated with the fact that the textbooks of Yoga are being distributed to the students since the year 2010 without any Yoga teacher being recruited. The federation is of the view that Yoga should be added as compulsory subject in the curriculum of the schools,” he said.
Semwal claimed that there are more than 20,000 unemployed yoga qualified instructors in the state who would hit the path of stir to protest against the apathy being shown by the State Government. Read More
