U’khand record highest single day spurt in Covid-19 cases
239 patients surface on Sunday including 150 in Haridwar
In a single day spike, which is the highest so far the state health department of Uttarakhand reported 239 cases of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Sunday. A staggering 239 patients of the disease were reported on the day which pushed the tally of the disease in the state to 4515. The spurt in the cases on Sunday broke the record of highest cases reported on May 29 when 216 cases surfaced. Haridwar district reported 150 cases on Sunday. The spurt in the number of patients further brought the recovery rate down. The recovery rate on Sunday stood at 69.01 percent. The doubling rate also dipped to 22.37 days. Reports of 2744 swab samples were received by the department on the day. Out of the total samples tested 4.22 percent have tested positive for the disease. However 8104 samples are still lying untested in different laboratories of the state.
The authorities reported 150 cases of the disease in Haridwar district on the day. It is learnt that most of these cases are from a plant of a multinational company based at SIIDCUL Haridwar. Similarly 58 patients were reported from Dehradun district. Here 13 armed forces personnel, three health care workers and two Central Industrial Security Force (CSIF) personnel were found suffering from the disease. In Udham Singh Nagar 13 patients surfaced while seven patients were reported in Nainital district. In Uttarkashi five and in Pauri four patients were found positive for Covid-19. One patient each was reported from Almora and Chamoli districts.
The authorities discharged 35 patients of the disease from different hospitals of the state on Sunday. A total of 3116 patients have recovered in the state so far. In Dehradun 25 patients were discharged while nine patients were released from hospital in Nainital district. One patient was discharged in Chamoli district.
The surge in number of patients increased the tally of active patients in the state to 1311 on Sunday. Udham Singh Nagar is at top of table in the list of Covid-19 active cases with 381 active cases of the disease. With 150 cases reported on the day Haridwar jumped to second place ahead of Dehradun. Haridwar now has 297 active cases while Dehradun has 291 active cases. Nainital has 225 active cases of Covid-19 now. Pauri has 29, Tehri 23, Uttarkashi 21, Champawat and Pithoragarh 15 each, Almora nine and Chamoli five active cases of the disease. Bageshwar and Rudraprayag now have no active cases of the disease.
