The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) submitted a five-point memorandum to the Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Saturday. Later, addressing a press conference, party president Diwakar Bhatt said that some decisions recently taken by the Government are anti people and should be taken back without delay.
Bhatt said, “The recent decision of the government to allow sales and purchase of land in Gairsain in Chamoli district clearly shows the intention of the Government. This will restrict the development of the area as builders will buy the lands. Even after the people of Uttarakhand want Gairsain to be the Capital, the ruling government is doing nothing about it. Also, the activists who were demanding Gairsain as capital were caught and put in jails by the government. All this is intolerable.”
Bhatt further said that the people of the villages in Uttarakhand are facing difficulties due to the district development authorities which have been forced on the people by the State Government.
He said that people are forced to shuttle from one office to other for constructing house even in villages. Bhatt said that on the other hand selling and buying of lands in these villages have increased which is clear exploitation of local people.
Bhatt said, “Government decision of making a bottling plant for liquor at Devprayag in Tehri district is unfortunate. The place is associated with the religious sentiments of people.’’
The UKD leader also raised the issue of the ousted field workers of 108 ambulance service and said that these workers were removed from jobs after the service of nine to ten years.
