TWELVE MISSING MINORS TRACED SO FAR UNDER ‘OPERATION SMILE’

Twelve missing minors have been traced so far in Chamoli district since the latest chapter of Operation Smile was launched by the district police on February 1. Police said that all the minors thus traced have been handed over to their respective families in assistance with Bal Kalyan Samiti.
Two of the missing children were from Chamoli district while the rest ten were outsiders, mostly from Nepal and Uttar Pradesh. “Two of the 12 thus traced are from Chamoli district while the other 10 who were recovered hail from other states and also from Nepal.
No missing complaint was lodged about these missing minors. We on our own found them out and united them with their families with the help from the child welfare organisation under the special drive,” said a senior district police officer.
Sub- inspector Ajay Rawat said that the Operation Smile was launched under the guidance of the nodal officer. “We are happy that the team associated with the Operation Smile in the district has been asked to go to Dehradun to assist the teams from Dehradun and Haridwar to trace out the children missing from these districts under the Operation Smile mission,” he added.
The missing minors recovered during the drive include Ajeet Singh, 14, resident of village Wajidpur, Agra (UP), Jaiveer, resident of village Ruupa, district Chamoli Uttarakhand, Takchand, Faagu ,15, resident of village Kootwa Kala Kushinagar Bazaar, district Gorakhpur, UP, Amit, 13, resident of Kootwa Kala Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, UP, Mahesh, 10, resident of village Chirkatwa, district Bahraich UP and Khushi Ram, 8, resident of village Chirkatwa, district Bahiraich, UP aside from several others who hail from Nepal.
