More trains expected to bring back migrants from other states in coming days
A special from Bengaluru reached Haridwar on Thursday with about 1,314 migrant Uttarakhandis. The Haridwar district magistrate C Ravishankar checked the arrangements at the railway station before the arrival of the train. The Health department personnel also inspected the arrangements for the screening of passengers, food water and milk for young children on behalf of the administration as per the guidelines of the Government of India. The arriving people were thermal screened and later sent in sanitised buses towards their home districts.
So far, more than 2.07 lakh migrants have registered online for returning to Uttarakhand with more than 70,000 having been brought back. Similarly, more than 32,000 migrants in the state have registered to return to other states of which more than 14,282 have left Uttarakhand.
To bring migrants back from other states, while a special train was slated to depart from Ahmedabad to Haridwar on Thursday, a train from Jaipur to Haridwar will depart on Friday. The process is underway to bring back migrants by train from Telangana, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other states.
