Tourism Secy directs for developing Sita Mata circuit
The State’s Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar inspected the religious sites under the planned Sita Mata circuit in Pauri district on the weekend. He issued necessary directions to the officials concerned for the development of these religious sites.
It is pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had initiated efforts to bring the religious sites on the global map.
He had also announced that a Sita Mata circuit would be developed in the Garhwal region. The ancient important religious sites like Raghunath temple situated in Devprayag, Sita Koti, Vidhyakoti, Lakshman temple of Devalgargh, Mata Sita temple of Falswari and others are being developed under the Sita Mata circuit.
Jawalkar visited and inspected ancient temples under the Sita Mata circuit. The first site he visited was the Lakshman temple of Devalgargh where he asked about its history and significance from the villagers. Jawalkar instructed the officers of archaeological, cultural and tourisim departments to develop the temple premises. He also visited the nearby Jalkund Naha water reservoir.
Jawalkar also inspected Sita Mata temple at Falswari in Kot block and discussed the matter of the development of the religious places under Sita Mata circuit and the facilities to be provided to the religious tourtist.
Jawalkar said that the temple premises will be well planned and developed in such a way that the tourist can stay there for at least three to four hours. He also told the villagers that they can develop their homes in to home-stays for the tourists.
Citing the example of Dayara Bugyal in Uttarkashi district, Jawalkar said that a couple of years ago, the butter festival was publicised and at present nearly 700 tourists from other States are visiting it. There are 21 home-stays in the Raithal village while 15 home-stays are proposed in Barasu village. He also visited Mahadev and Valmiki temples and gave instructions to develop the water fall at Gathicherra into a tourist attraction. Chief development officer Himansu Khurana, sub divisional magistrate Manish Kumar and other departmental officials concerned along with villagers were also present during the secretary’s visit.
