Rain/snow may lash hills
Dehradun might experience thunder cloud development on the first day of the new year as per the forecast issued by the regional meteorological department on Monday. With it, the possibility of snowfall in the famed hill station Mussoorie has brightened up to the glee of the tourists who are thronging it in pleasant anticipation of the marvel of winter nature. Besides, the cold wave condition is likely to sweep across the plains for the next 24 hours. It might rain lightly in some places, particularly in the hill areas of the state, during the next 24 hours. The Met forecast further said that it might snow in the higher reaches of the state on the day.
Meanwhile, in most places of the state, the mercury is now hovering below the normal range and Dehradun recorded the lower side of the normal minimum temperature on Monday. As per the weather forecast, there is little likelihood of the people getting a respite from the ongoing cold wave condition in the coming few days.
Besides, the Met department said that fog/mist might enshroud several areas of the plains, particularly, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, during the night and early morning hours on Tuesday.
The mercury in Dehradun settled at 5 degree Celsius- one degree below the normal- while the maximum hovered around 23.1 degree Celsius on Monday.
