A day after 14 people died in a bus accident in Uttarkashi district, three people died in a car mishap in the same district on Monday. The spate of accidents especially in the mountainous regions of the state has once again elicited concern and questions regarding the factors responsible for such mishaps and the action being taken by the authorities to effectively address the same.
According to information provided by the Uttarkashi district emergency operation center, a Santro car number UK 07 AL 1436 being driven from Purola to Naugaon met with an accident near Golna Dhang. The driver of the vehicle is reported to have lost control of the car leading to the accident at 9:30 AM. There were three people in the car at the time of the mishap and all of them died on the spot. Officials informed that the bodies of the three accident victims were taken to the primary health center in Naugaon for post-mortem examination.
Observers point out that despite concern being expressed by authorities and magisterial probes also being ordered into major accidents, the spate of road accidents especially in the mountainous regions of the State has continued at an alarming frequency. Factors like driver error and bad condition of roads are said to be among the major reasons behind road accidents but the authorities have yet to be effective measures to address these factors and curtail road accidents, state observers. read more posts…
