Tharali MLA passes away after multi-organ failure
The mortal remains of the Tharali MLA Magan Lal Shah who died at the Himalayan Hospital in Dehradun following multi-organ failure late on Sunday night were consigned to flames at the confluence of two rivers Alaknanda and Pinder at Karnprayag in Chamoli district on Monday.
Aside from thousands of people, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Bharatiya Janata Party state president Ajay Bhatt, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Premchand Agrawal and state minister for higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat were present during the cremation.
The eldest son of the departed MLA, Ganesh Shah lit the funeral pyre amidst chanting of Vedic mantras.
Earlier, the Chief Minister mourned the death of the MLA Magan Lal Shah and called him a soft-spoken person dedicated to the development of the area he was representing as a member of the state Assembly.
After the cremation was over, the Chief Minister also planted a sapling in memory of the deceased MLA.
BJP state president Ajay Bhatt said that the death of the MLA was an irreparable loss to Uttarakhand. District magistrate Chamoli Ashish Joshi laid a wreath on the body on behalf of the Governor. SP police Tripti Bhatt was also present there.
Chief Minister had earlier visited the residence of the departed MLA based at Karnprayag and spent some time with the bereaved family members.
