Angry at department’s order not to leave headquarter during winter vacations
Resentment is brewing among government school teachers on the education department’s directive to hold in-service training during the winter vacations. The teachers are miffed at the department’s diktat in which the State Council of Education Research and Training ( SCERT) would start ten day orientation courses for the in service teachers from January 3. To further increase the agony of teachers, the department officials have directed that no teacher would leave headquarter during the vacation. As per the academic calendar of department, the 15 day winter vacations in government schools of state would start from January 1.
The Additional Director SCERT, Ajay Kumar Naudiyal dispatched letters to all district project officers of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan on Wednesday in which he said that the SCERT has made necessary preparation to start training on January 3. The teachers owing affiliation to different organisations have come out in open against the order. “ The order not to leave headquarters shows dictatorial mindset of the department officials.
The government foists all kind of works ranging from census to surveys on teachers and then passes such kind of draconian orders. I had made a plan to take my children to a trip of Rajasthan this winters but now I have to cancel it,’’ said a teacher posted in Raipur block of Dehradun. The teacher organisations are suggesting that the government should annul the winter and summer vacations and instead of it should provide the benefit of 30 earned leaves ( EL), a year like other employees.
When contacted, the president of the Prathmik Shikshak Sangh ( PSS), Digvijay Singh told The Pioneer that exploitation of teachers would not be tolerated. He said that PSS is in touch with other organization of teachers and appropriate action would soon be taken. “ We have kept all our options open on the issue,’’ he said. Read more posts…
