Tableau of Gandhi’s Anasakti Asharam to be displayed during Republic Day parade
Anasakti Ashram’ in Kosani located in tranquil Kumaon hills where Mahatma Gandhi spent considerable time would be depicted in the tableau of Uttarakhand displayed during the Republic Day parade this year. The deputy director Information and nodal officer, national ceremonies, K S Chauhan said that this year being the 150 birth anniversary of father of nation, the government of India had instructed that the theme of republic day parade tableaux should be based on Mahatma Gandhi.
He said that in the front part of the tableau, a large statue of Mahatma Gandhi jotting down Anasakti Yoga has been shown while in the central part, Anasakti Ashram would be depicted. The tableaux would also show people performing yoga and Gandhi talking to Govind Vallabh Pant. Chauhan said that in the last section of the tableau, Deodar trees, locals and High Mountain peaks would be shown while have been shown while the side panel would showcase Jageshwar Dham, Badrinath and Kedarnath temples.
It is pertinent to mention that Mahatma Gandhi loved Kausani very much and used to call it as Switzerland of India. He had visited the ashram in the year 1929 and wrote a review on the book “Anasakti Yoga” at this place. The ashram is operated by local women and prayer meetings are organized in the ashram every morning and evening. The ashram has been developed as a library and research centre.
Chauhan said the selection of tableau is done by an expert committee appointed by the Ministry of Defence. He said that effective presentation in all the six rounds by the representatives of the state ensured that the tableau of Uttarakhand was selected for tenth time for Republic Day parade.
