SUSPENSION ORDER BEARS FRUIT, NO DISSENT SURFACES NOW

A day after the State police brass cracked the whip by suspending two personnel for airing grievances over the social networking sites under the guise of Mission Mahavrat, things seemed to have come back to the normal on Friday as no murmur of dissent was heard or found.
As the threat given by some aggrieved personnel of airing grievances in forms like sporting black ribbons on their arms and boycotting food available at the police canteens seemed to have fizzled out, senior cops hinted that the suspension order slapped on two personnel might be reviewed as part of a reconciliatory move. However, some cops who insisted on anonymity said that the lull seen on Friday can hardly be taken as the end of the stir being staged clandestinely. “The police department offices are now abuzz with speculation over whether the silent stir would continue as some who are not venting support openly are showing covert empathy for the cause of the correction of pay anomalies. They would reap benefits if the stir succeeds in making the top brass to sit up and address their grievances,” said a senior police officer. And this is just the need of hour.
State Additional Director General of Police law and order Ashok Kumar said on Friday that the suspension orders served on two police personnel from Chamoli district might be reviewed in the next four/five days.
He reaffirmed that there is no dissent in the force. “This is sheer rumour mongering,” he said.
Nainital SSP Janmejay Khanduri said that a general circular has been issued from the police headquarters which directed the senior police officers to ensure that discipline is maintained in the force. In Nainital, there is no dissent in the force though the intelligence staffers are alert, he added.
The demands which are said to have prodded a section of the police personnel to the silent protest route include hike in grade pay and allowances, allowance against gazetted holidays, full salary during training, cash against leave, special allowances for civil and armed police forces and hike in nutrition allowances. It should be taken in right situation.
Around two years ago, similar things had happened in the force known as Mission Akrosh and later their pay anomalies had been rectified.
