The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat interacted with students and faculty members under “Your opinion, your budget’’ programme at Doon University on Friday. In the programme Management student Gautam Kumar said that a scheme to promote milk production should be launched and emphasis should be made on marketing of organic products. Another student Ujjawal Sharma suggested that an investment summit should be organised in the State to promote industries in Uttarakhand. Vivek Joshi said that it is needed to strengthen self help groups along with startup and digital India schemes to prevent migration from mountainous areas of the State. Research scholar Shalu Rathi suggested that the Insurance policy should be made more comprehensive so that more and more farmers are included in ‘ Crop Insurance Scheme’. In the interaction 23 students actively participated.
Addressing the students, the CM said that the State Government is committed to the policy of zero tolerance on corruption and claimed that in its 11 month old tenure the State Government has remained taintless. He said that the Government is planning to hike the Dairy subsidy to 35 percent from present 25 percent. Rawat informed that a decision to make all Nyay Panchayats as centres of economic activity has been taken. The CM said that in last 10 months 1000 doctors have been sent to the hospitals located in mountainous areas. He said that an agreement with Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) has been done for extraction of bio-fuel from Pine leaves. The CM declared that investor summit in the state would be held in the month of September- October. He said that suggestions of every section of society are being taken and they would be added in the forthcoming budget of the State.
In the programme the CM appreciated the union budget; he said that one of the key highlight of the budget is providing employment opportunities to the youth.
The number of Pime Minister Skill Development Centres would now be extended to 600 districts from 60 districts, he said. Rawat added that under the programme 3.50 Crore youth would employment.
The programme was attended by the Vice Chancellor of Doon University Chandra Shekhar Nautiyal, faculty members and large number of students who listened and interacted with the Chief Minister on the occasion.
