The event being held to create awareness among the school children on the ill effects of the substance abuse is part of the social obligation of The Pioneer newspaper. Hundreds of students slated to participate in the event.
Hundreds of students belonging to different schools of Dehradun are slated to participate in ‘Walk with The Pioneer’ at Reserve Police lines, Race Course on Sunday morning. The event is part of the social obligation of The Pioneer, one of the oldest national English newspapers in the country. The objective of the event is to create awareness among the school children on the ill effects of the substance abuse.
The Pioneer is being assisted by the Insurance giant, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India, Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board, State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL), Uttarakhand Handloom and Handicraft Development Council (UHHDC), Uttarakhand Police, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), The New India Assurance Co Limited, Bridge, Ropeway, Tunnel and other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL), Krishna Power Solutions and Uttarakhand Gram Vikas Samiti (UGVS) in organizing the event.
The Director General (DG) law and order, Uttarakhand Police Ashok Kumar would be the chief guest while the Additional Secretary and Director Panchayati Raj, H C Semwal would be the guest of honour in the event.
The President of higher education welfare association, noted activist and anti drug campaigner Lalit Joshi would dwell upon the ill effects of the substance abuse on the occasion. It is pertinent to mention here that ‘Sajag India’ the U -Tube channel of Joshi is very popular among the college and school students.
The Senior Superintendent (SSP) of Dehradun, Arun Mohan Joshi, the Managing Director (MD) of BRIDCUL, Manoj Kumar Semwal, the President of Public Relations Society (PRSI) Vimal Dabral, the Senior Divisional Manager (SDM) of LIC, P K Saxena, the founder of Krishna Power Solutions, Paras Nakra, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of ESIC, Dr Akash, Vigilance officer of New India Assurance Navin Jain, Assistant Marketing Manager of Organic Commodity Board, Pankaj Kumar and Reserve Inspector (RI), Uttarakhand police S P Baluni would grace the event and encourage the children.
The students of Pine Hall School, Doon International School, Sai Grace Academy International, Police Modern School and Doon World School would participate in the walk.
The ‘ Walk with The Pioneer’ would commence at 7 AM when the chief guest and guest of honour would flag off the event.
In his message, the Managing Director ( MD) of Unigate General Media Private Limited Dehradun which owns the Uttarakhand edition of ‘The Pioneer’, Ajit Sinha said that the event is an attempt to make the children aware about the biological, physiological and psychological ill effects of psychoactive substance on an individual and their negative impact on the society.
The Deputy Director Information of Public Relations department of Uttarakhand, K S Chauhan said that though substance abuse provides instant happiness it slowly devours an individual and destroys his or her life.
