SSP orders action against overcharging auto drivers
The Dehradun police are planning to take strict actions against those auto-rickshaw drivers who are over charging while ferrying passengers during early morning or late night from ISBT. Taking cognisance of the increasing number of such complaints, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi has directed Circle Officer (traffic) Rakesh Devli to speak with the auto-rickshaw and Vikram unions.
He has also appealed to the general public to complain about overcharging immediately by calling on 112.
SSP Joshi has also directed that a fare list is to be displayed in the three-wheelers and stands so that local commuters and tourists may also know about the actual rates. He also said that if a public transport vehicle is operating on road, the driver cannot refuse to carry the passenger.
It is pertinent to mention here that passengers reaching late night at the bus stand or railway station have complained that they were overcharged by the auto and Vikram drivers.
Some students from outside the State have also stated that the three-wheeler drivers try to overcharge them simply because they think they are not aware about the actual fare rates.
It is also important to mention here that the district traffic department is also working on planning particular areas for every public transport vehicles so that they all can earn without interfering in each other’s territory.
