Srinagar, Bajpur victories rejection of anti people policies of BJP govt- Pritam
Says U’khand government is dancing to the tunes of land and liquor mafia.
The President of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Pritam Singh has said that victory of Congress candidates in Srinagar and Bajpur municipal councils prove that people have rejected the anti people polices of the state government. Talking to the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan, the state party office on Thursday, a beaming PCC President claimed that the Srinagar and Bajpur results have brought into fore the anger of the people towards the state government. He said that the BJP governments at centre and state have done nothing except loading people with price rise, steep increase in prices of petrol and diesel. He said in Uttarakhand the governance is visible nowhere and the courts are directing the government. Launching an attack on the state government for allowing sale and purchase of land near Gairsain, Singh said that the state government is dancing on the tunes of land and liquor mafia. He said that recent amendment in the Panchayati Raj Act is full of errors. He said that the Congress party would continue to oppose the incorporation of educational qualification criteria and decision of disqualifying the candidates with more than two children.
Naithani attacks govt on distillery, NCC academy shifting
Former minister and senior Congress leader Mantri Prasad Naithani has said that the people of Uttarakhand would not allow setting up of distilleries in the state. Reacting strongly to the state government’s decision to start liquor bottling plant in Devprayag, Naithani said that the project is against the ethos and religious beliefs of people of Devprayag which is a sacred place on confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. He clarified that the Harish Rawat government in which he was a minister had given licence of a bottling and fruit juice plant in Devprayag but after protest of local people the plan was shelved. The former minister also criticised the state government for shifting the proposed NCC academy from Devprayag to Pauri. He said that 200 Nali of land was donated by people of Srikot -Malda in Devprayag and threatened that the academy would get shifted out of Devprayag over his dead body.
