Set up SIT headed by HC judge in BJP Me 2 case: Congress
The State Congress vice-president Surya Kant Dhasmana demanded investigation by SIT to be headed by a sitting judge of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) into sexual harassment charge levelled by a BJP worker against the former State BJP general secretary Sanjay Kumar.
Addressing the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Tuesday, he alleged that the BJP-helmed Government and the ruling party organisation are pulling out all the stops to hush up the case. Dhasmana claimed that the victim is being coerced into taking back the case by the BJP organisation.
He further said that the police are working under pressure. “They have given enough opportunity to the BJP to pressure the victim into submission,” he alleged.
The Congress leader said that through audio recordings now in circulation, it is clear enough that Mahanagar BJP unit president and a senior functionary of Yuva Morcha are pressuring the victim to take back the case in the interest of the party.
Casting question on the motive of police in registering the case under section 354 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), the State Congress leader said that the victim’s allegation of her mobile phone containing damming evidences against Sanjay Kumar being snatched away from her by the some State BJP women leaders was serious. “It is clear now that the evidences are being tempered with,” he said and added that his party would not be satisfied with anything short of a SIT to be headed by a sitting high court judge to investigate the case.
