The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) has issued an advisory to all the district magistrates following the forecast of heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of the state on Monday. As per the advisory issued by the SEOC in-charge, the State meteorological centre had issued the weather forecast on Sunday evening stating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain in some places of Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri and Dehradun districts on Monday. On July 9 and 10 too, the meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in some places of Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri and Dehradun districts.
Considering the alert and warning issued by the meteorological centre, the SEOC has advised that alertness be maintained at all levels and that the aspects of safety and traffic be kept under control. Further, in case of any accident or disaster, swift action should be taken at the ground level with prompt exchange of information. All officers and departmental nodal officers designated in the disaster management incident response system (IRS) will remain on high alert. The officials concerned will ensure that any road, if blocked, is cleared for traffic as soon as possible.
All the revenue sub inspectors, village development officers and Gram Panchayat officers will remain at their place of posting. Similarly, all police posts and stations along with disaster related equipment and wireless sets will also remain on alert. During the said time period when heavy to very heavy rain is forecast, none of the officers/employees will switch off their mobile phone. Care should be observed in schools while in case of uncommon weather and heavy rain warning, tourists should not be allowed to travel in the high altitude Himalayan regions.
