SCPCR takes cognizance of student’s death at Ranipokhri
The State Commission for Protection of Child Right (SCPCR) has taken cognizance of the death of a student of class seven from Ranipokhri. As per the information received from the child rights body, the student was found ill on Sunday night after which the school authorities took the student to a nearby hospital and during the treatment, the student died on Monday after which the police was informed.
The death of the student was suspicious and this was the reason why SCPCR has decided to probe the case, said a senior member of the body and added that the chairperson SCPCR Usha Nehi is going to visit the place on Thursday.
Talking to The Pioneer, Usha Negi said, “The case was taken to us and taking a serious note of the death, I decided to visit the place myself on Wednesday. However, I could not because of some urgent works. I would visit the place on Thursday morning. We have already sought a detailed report from the police about the actions they have taken after acknowledging the case. And we have also asked for the post-mortem report of the student. The visit would help us to assess whether the school has any responsibility in the death of the student. We would take action if things so warrant.”
