Responding to the recent letter written by the chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Usha Negi, the chief education officer (CEO) of Dehradun has informed the commission that the viral video of parents standing in long queues to deposit the school fee is from a school of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Acknowledging this information, Negi has written a letter to the CEO regarding the regular complaints of parents against a prominent private school in Dehradun. She said in the letter that though the viral video is not shot at the said school but on the basis of the complaints received by the commission, the CEO should investigate the work system of the school in the current scenario. According to Negi, if the said school is doing a fine job, everybody will know it and if there is any place for improvement, the suggestions will be provided to school management.
The enquiry will also assist to differentiate between genuine and false complaints about the school in future but in any case, the working procedure of school should be inspected, added Negi. The SCPCR has asked the CEO to submit the investigation report to the commission within 15 days.
