Schools to remain closed till things improve: Minister

Arvind Pandey’s order clears confusion over opening of schools from Sept 21

In a major decision which would clear the prevailing confusion about opening of schools, the Education minister of Uttarakhand Arvind Pandey has said that in view of the worsening situation of Covid-19 the schools would not open in the state from September 21. In a statement the minister said that he has directed the officials to the department that they should ensure that the schools are closed in the state till the situation normalises. In the unlock IV guidelines the union government had allowed the state that schools can be opened from September 21. The directive of the centre was conditional and the parents had the option of either sending or not sending their wards in the schools. As per the guideline, the schools can allow the students of classes IX to XII to visit schools for clearing their doubts. However confusion prevailed in Uttarakhand as the state administration had not issued any guideline for opening of schools. This confusion was cleared on Tuesday by the education minister himself. Pandey said that the children are our future and in no circumstances their lives can be put into danger. He said that all schools in the state would remain completely closed till further orders.
