Sanitation supervisor found Covid-19 positive, MCD closed for public today

After a sanitation supervisor was found Covid-19 positive in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Sunday, the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has restricted the entry of public in the corporation once again. Pandey said that a supervisor was tested positive on Sunday, so the whole campus of MCD will be sanitised on Monday and hence, no one besides the employees of the corporation will be allowed in the corporation on that day. He also informed that the people who were in the direct contact of the patient have been instructed to observe home quarantine for at least four days. Moreover, he stated that the work including property tax collection among others will be resumed on Tuesday.

It is pertinent to mention here that it is the third Covid-19 positive case in the corporation within about a week and fifth in a month. Expressing his concern regarding the increasing rate of Covid patients in MCD, Pandey appealed to people to visit the corporation only if it is extremely necessary and if possible, the tasks like the submission of the property tax should be done online in order to avoid the crowd as well as the risk of Covid contagion. He said that the situation is currently critical in the city and therefore, everyone needs to maintain physical distancing besides following other important guidelines of the government.
