The members of the religious fraternity based in Haridwar sounded happy over the State Government deciding to facilitate free chopper flight to the Char Dham shrines. The chopper service to the Char Dham is all set to resume soon from the helipad located near Dudadhari Chowk. It is learnt that the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has given his nod to the resumption of the service by a six -seater helicopter from the holy city.
Earlier, the adherents of Juna Akhada met the CM at the latter’s residence in Dehradun and appealed to him to give the sadhus based in Haridwar free chopper transport to the shrines and also announce discount in the chopper fare to the pilgrims who embark on the pilgrimage from the holy city.
Mahant Shivampuri Trikaldarshi of Juna Akhada said on Monday that the CM has given his positive nod to the appeal made by a delegation of the akhada sadhus which met him. “He not just agreed to see to it that the chopper service to the shrines from Haridwar resumes at the earliest but also accepted our demand of free chopper transport to the Haridwar-based sadhus and to slash the fare for the pilgrims who start the pilgrimage from here. We are happy,” he said.
He added that two helicopters would fly from Dudadhari Chowk helipad daily to ferry the sadhus and the pilgrims to the shrines and back.
He further said that the sadhus who met the CM presented him with a Rudraksh rosary by way of expressing their gratitude for the move.
