With snowfall continuing in various high altitude areas of the State, nearly two dozen roads in the mountainous regions of the State are still blocked to traffic. Further, the supply of electricity and potable water have also been disrupted in various rural mountainous areas due to the snowfall. According to officials, efforts are underway to clear the roads and reopen them to traffic in addition to restoring the supply of electricity and water.
As per information provided by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), in the Rudraprayag district efforts are underway to clear the Rambada-Kedarnath bridle path which is blocked due to snow.
Electricity supply is disrupted in Kedarnath due to snowfall with efforts underway to restore the power supply. Further, a total of four rural motor roads are blocked in the district. In Uttarkashi district, on the Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway 108 snowfall between Pakoda Nala and Gangotri has blocked the road to traffic. Similarly, the Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94 is blocked to traffic from Hanumanchatti to Yamunotri. In addition to this, five rural motor roads in the district are blocked due to snow. Further, power supply was disrupted due to snowfall in Bhatwadi, Dunda, Chinyalisaud, Badkot, Purola and Mori areas of the district with efforts underway to restore electricity supply. In the Chamoli district, the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 is open only till Pandukeshwar. Additionally, two rural motor roads are blocked in the district. In the Dehradun district, the Tyuni-Chakrata-Mussoorie national highway 707A is open for traffic till Lokhadi.
Ahead of Lokhadi, the national highway is blocked for four kilometres due to snowfall.
A total of four rural motor roads are blocked due to snowfall in the district. Meanwhile, in the Pauri district, the Dhumakot-Pauri-Ramnagar national highway 121 has been reopened for traffic. However, two state highways in the district are blocked due to snowfall. In the Bageshwar district, one rural motor road is blocked due to snowfall. In Pithoragarh district the Thal-Munsyari state highway and Tawaghat-Narayan Ashram motor road were blocked due to snowfall. The situation was reported to be normal in the districts of Haridwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar.
