Returning migrants push COVID-19 count higher in U’khand
Six new cases, three each in Dehradun and Udham Singh reported, all have travelled to state recently; toll mounts to 78
With relaxation in restrictions in lockdown and return of migrants, the cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Uttarakhand are witnessing a sudden spike in last few days. On Thursday six new cases of the disease, three each in Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar districts were reported by the state health department and all of them had recently traveled to the state. With them the COVID-19 count in Uttarakhand jumped to 78. In Dehradun, one female (36 years) and two male patients ( 36 and 45 years) were found positive for the disease which increased the patient count of COVID-19 in the distinct to 39. These patients are residents of Dalanwala, Raipur and Mussoorie respectively. In Udham Singh Nagar district two male patients aged 35 and 36 years have recently travelled from Mumbai while the third positive patient is a 10 year old girl who has a travel history from New Delhi.
On a positive note, three patients were discharged from the hospitals after their complete recovery from the disease. Two of these discharged patients are from Dehradun while one is from Haridwar. Out of 78 positive cases, 50 have so far recovered from the disease.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said reports of 360 samples were found negative for the disease on Thursday while six were found positive. He added that reports of 386 samples are still awaited by the department. On Thursday, a total of 333 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 11294 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 0.73 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. The rate of recovery from the COVID-19 in the state is 66.67 percent. A total of 1401724 people have so far downloaded the ‘Aaroggya Setu App’ on their smart phones.
The state now has 27 active cases in the state with Udham Singh Nagar district having highest 12 active cases. Dehradun is close second with 10 active cases. Nainital has two active cases Haridwar, Uttarkashi and Almora districts have one active case each.
