REMAND OF 6 ACCUSED IN NH-74 SCAM EXTENDS TILL MARCH 26

In connection with the case of around Rs 300 crores scam in NH 74 land acquisition and compensation process, the judicial remand of the six accused, including two PCS officers, have been extended till March 26. Court sources said that accused NS Nagnyal, Anil Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Mohan Singh, Sant Ram and Amar Singh appeared in the district sessions court through video conferencing on Tuesday. The court has extended judicial remand of the accused for the next 14 days. The investigating officer is expected to file a charge sheet against the accused in the court soon, said sources. Notably, the State Government had earlier handed over the case to SIT after an FIR was lodged regarding the multi-crore land acquisition scam, dubbed as a super scam.
SIT has already collected evidences related to the case after questioning officers and employees of the departments concerned. Sources said several officers had already appeared before the SIT in the past few months and their statements related to the aforesaid scam had been recorded by the SIT officers. SIT team which is probing the case is led by additional SP Kamlesh Upadhyay while CO Swatantra Kumar is functioning as the investigating officer. Some inspectors and sub-inspectors are members of the team.
