Religious & business fraternities look forward to grand Kumbh Mela
About one year is left for the Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar during 2021. With the state government focused on ensuring that the Kumbh Mela is grander that past such events, the officials concerned are busy with various works while members of the religious and business fraternity along with the locals are also keeping a watch over the Kumbh Mela works.
The various works are being supervised by the Kumbh Mela officer Deepak Rawat, who has earlier served as the Haridwar district magistrate for three years. It is expected that his experience as the district magistrate of Haridwar will enable him to do the needful efficiently for the Kumbh Mela.
In the meanwhile, various organisations and bodies including the Shri Ganga Sabha, Akhada Parishad and Prantiya Udhyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal among others are confident that the various works which are currently under construction will be completed before the 2021 Kumbh Mela. Talking to The Pioneer, representatives of various fraternities expressed their views on the ongoing works and their expectations.
The Shri Ganga Sabha conducts the Ganga Arti at Har ki Paidi and undertakes various other activities here. Its general secretary Tanmay Vashishth says that the State Government and Kumbh Mela administration have assured that all the works will be completed on time. “In addition to the Kumbh Mela works, underground wiring, solar lights, LED, Ganga gate, shoe stall, transfer of police post, Kangra Ghat widening and other works at Har ki Paidi are also to be undertaken with Rs 34 crore contributed earlier by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited to the Clean Ganga fund.”
Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Brahmachari said that the Akhada Parishad wants the Kumbh Mela of Haridwar to be a very grand occasion. He said, “In all the meetings with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, he has assured that the Kumbh Mela works will be completed on time.”
The Prantiya Udhyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal district head Suresh Gulati said that the traders want the highway construction work to be expedited. Further, the parking facility should be maximized. He further said that the traders’ fraternity will also coordinate with the administration to ensure a smooth Kumbh Mela.
