The State Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain and snowfall especially in the places with height of 2000 meter and above on February 7.
The same weather is likely to prevail in Kumaon and isolated places across Garhwal on the day, the Met officers said. The state Met centre has also given a yellow alert of heavy snowfall which is likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches located at 3000 meter and above like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on February 6.
The state Met centre has forecast light rain and snow at isolated places on February 5 and 8. Light to moderate rain and snowfall may also occur at many places on February 6 and 7.
Keeping in the view the likely weather conditions on these days, the state Met centre has issued an advisory for the state government authorities to take necessary precaution to control the movement of the commuters especially on February 7. It also has urged the authorities to position important machinery for clearance of the roads especially in the hilly region, by February 5.
The climate is likely to remain partly cloudy in Dehradun as well as in the rest of the state on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 23 degree Celsius and 6 degree Celsius respectively in the city on the day.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various towns of the state on Friday was 21.21 degree Celsius and 10.6 degree Celsius in Dehradun, 23.4 degree Celsius and 8.9 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 8.4 degree Celsius and 1.3 degree Celsius in Mukteshwar, 6.2 degree Celsius and 2.4 degree Celsius in New Tehri respectively.
