Record breaking spree of Covid-19 continues in U’khand

1115 fresh cases, 14 deaths reported in the state on Saturday

The spike in the number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Uttarakhand is continuing to escalate. The health department reported a staggering 1115 fresh cases of the disease on Saturday which is the highest single day surge in the number of cases in the state. Incidentally on Wednesday the department had reported 1061 cases, which was the highest number till Friday. This record was broken again on Saturday. The state now has 30336 cases of Covid-19 and out of them 20031 patients have recovered from the disease. On Saturday death of 14 patients was reported due to Covid-19 which increased the death toll to 402 in the state. The department discharged 603 patients after recovery from different hospitals of the state on Saturday. The percentage recovery of Covid-19 patients in the state is at 66.03 percent and out of total samples tested 6.23 percent have tested positive for the disease.

In Sushila Tiwari government hospital, Haldwani five patients of the disease were reported dead on Saturday. Similarly four patients succumbed to the disease in the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital while three patients were reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. One patient each was reported dead at district hospital Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh.

The provisional state capital Dehradun continues to reel under the onslaught of Covid-19. Here 290 patients were reported on Saturday. The department reported 269 patients in Haridwar, 180 in Udham Singh Nagar, 110 in Nainital, 68 in Pithoragarh, 51 in Uttarkashi, 46 in Tehri, 31 in Pauri, 25 in Rudraprayag, 14 in Chamoli, 13 in Bageshwar and eight patients of the disease in Almora.

Out of 603 patients discharged on Saturday, 275 are from Udham Singh Nagar, 135 in Haridwar, 108 in Dehradun, 30 in Pauri, 24 in Uttarkashi, 18 in Almora, seven in Chamoli and three each in Champawat and Rudraprayag.

The state now has 9781 active cases of the disease. Dehradun leads the table of active cases with 2890 patients.  Haridwar has 1811 active cases and is on second spot while with 1231 active cases Nainital is in third position. Udham Singh Nagar has 1226, Pauri 478, Tehri Garhwal 456, Uttarkashi 332, Almora 309, Champawat 257, Rudraprayag 256, Pithoragarh 230, Chamoli 162 and Bageshwar 143 active cases of the disease.
