Ram Mandir will be built whether or not BJP wins polls: Sena chief
Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said if the BJP Government was determined to honour court’s order why it promised people during elections that construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya will start during their regime.
“The Ram Temple will be constructed at any cost whether the Modi Government returns to power or not. For some people, Ram Temple may be a ‘jumla’ but for us it is a matter of national pride,” he said without taking the name of Modi while talking to reporters here on Sunday.
“Agar mamla adalat ke paas hi jana hai to chunav ke prachar ke darmyan usey istemaal na karein aur bata do ki bhaiyo aur behenon hamein maaf karo ye bhi hamara ek chunaavi jumla tha. (If you want the court to decide the matter why you made it an issue during elections. Now you should say to the people to forgive you and admit that it was your election jumla,” Thackeray said adding: “ I have come here to remind the people that no one can play with the sentiments of the Hindus.”
Questioning the BJP he said, “Why BJP is saying now that it will honor court’s verdict in case of Ram Temple. Did it go to court for demonetization? But now they are waiting for a court verdict on Ram Temple. This Government is very powerful but it failed to fulfill the aspiration of the majority community.”
He said that if this Government does not build the temple, this Government will not stay. “I assure the people of Ayodhya that Mandir will be built without help of BJP,” he said, adding, “The Government should bring an Ordinance and we will support you but build Ram temple. Do not play with the feelings of Hindus”.
Uddhav, along with his wife Rashmi and son Aditya, prayed at the makeshift Ram Lalla temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi on Sunday morning. “When I saw Ram Lalla today it seemed that the God was staying in jail. It is very unfortunate that God is staying in jail and we are enjoying life outside,” he said.
The Shiv Sena chief handed over to the priest at the Ram janmabhoomi a pot full of soil from the Shivneri fort in Pune.
“My mission of coming to Ayodhya is successful. It is possible due to the cooperation of the sants and the people of temple city,” he said.
Later, the Shiv Sena chief and his family members left for Mumbai by a special aircraft. read more posts…
