The State Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rain and snowfall at many places of the state for the next 24 hours. Places, especially with a height of 2000 metre and above, might be lashed by the spell on Friday, the Met department said. The general weather for the state would partly to generally cloudy. Meanwhile, a thundershower lashed Dehradun in the evening on Thursday.
Speaking of the climate, the director of State Meteorological Centre Bikram Singh said, “Many areas in Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts and high-altitude places like Auli have received a heavy snowfall on Thursday. The weather is likely to remain cloudy on Friday too. However, the climate would clear on Saturday and a dry spell is likely to prevail for three/ four days in the state thereafter.”
Mercury dipped by some notches after a thundershower occurred in Dehradun on late Thursday evening. More of rain is likely on Friday too, as per the weather forecast. The sky would remain partly to generally cloudy on the day with the likelihood of light to moderate rain and thunder showers occurring in the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be 17 degree Celsius and 8 degree Celsius respectively on Friday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various parts of the state on Thursday were 18.7 degree Celsius and 9.4 degree Celsius in Dehradun, 19.6 degree Celsius and 12.6 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 4.3 degree Celsius and 1.8 degree Celsius in Mukteshwar and 8.5 degree Celsius and 4.6 degree Celsius in New Tehri respectively.
