Police silent on alleged sexual harassment of a woman constable
Complainant’s brother allegedly getting threatening calls
Senior district police officers are choosing to keep mum over the alleged sexual harassment case involving a woman constable. As per the allegation running, a senior police officer based in Haridwar had sexually harassed a woman constable. Police sources said that the police department is studying the report of the committee formed to probe the charge. However, it is being alleged that the department is choosing to sleep on the report. It is further alleged that pressure is being mounted on the complainant’s brother who is also working in the police department.
Notably, a woman constable had alleged that a senior police officer deputed in a senior position in Haridwar city circle had sexually harassed her. The complaint had been made to then SSP Haridwar Ridhim Agarwal on December 28 last year. The very next day, a probe had been initiated. However, things had been kept away from the police personnel in the circle.
As per the phone surveillance, the accused was in touch with the woman constable over the past three months. It is alleged that the brother of the woman constable has been receiving threatening calls from the close aides of the accused.
Quizzed over the matter, SP City Mamta Vohra, who is also a member of the probe committee, said while talking to The Pioneer on Monday that the probe was on.
