For the coming Dussehra festival to be organised on Parade Ground on Tuesday, district police have devised a route diversion plan to ensure that the commuters don’t have to face unnecessary traffic congestion. The route diversion plan will start from 3 PM onwards and will continue to be at place till the end of the programme.
The Dussehra procession will commence from Kalki Mandir and pass through Moti Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Rajpur Road, Astley Hall and Kanak Chowk before reaching Parade Ground. The procession will start at 3 PM and reach Parade Ground by 4 PM.
According to local police, during the programme the area around Parade Ground will be zero zone. Parking for Very Important Persons (VIPs) and other officers has been designated at Doon Club and Doonga House. For civilians Pavilion Ground, Rangers Ground and Mangla Devi Inter College have been designated as parking places.
During the programme, the Vikrams and Tata Magic of route number 2 will be not operate from the Vikram stand situated at Pant road, but will have to take U-turn from Sahastradhara crossing. On route 3, these public transport vehicles will be stopped at Tehsil Chowk, from where they will be diverted towards Doon Chowk to MKP Chowk to CMI and then Dharmpur. On route 5, these vehicles will be diverted from Mata Mandir Bagh cut and on route 8 they will be returned from Railway station gate.
For city buses, the buses operating on Cantt-Rajpur Road won’t be allowed to come towards Kanak Chowk in any situation. Buses operating from Clement Town to Rajpur Road-Kuthal Gate will not operate towards Lansdowne Chowk but will take the route from Darshan Lal Chowk to Clock Tower and then Rajpur Road. City buses going from Rajpur Road to Maldevta, Sahastradhara will be stopped at Survey Chowk and reversed from there. The buses operating on Nalapani-Seemadwar will be diverted from Survey Chowk towards Cross Road to Faltu Line to Darshan Lal Chowk.
