In the ongoing drive that is being conducted by the Dehradun police for the verification of tenants and people from outside, on Sunday 119 landlords were served challan under 83 Police Act and Rs 11,90,000 were deposited by Patelnagar, Dalanwala, Nehru Colony and Rajpur police stations.
As per the directions given by Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi, the Patelnagar police conducted verification in Banjarawal, Muslim Basti, Chaman Vihar, Lohiyanagar, Azad Colony, Jhiwaredi Nayagaon, Karbari and Bhudhpur. They issued 35 challans and deposited Rs 3,50,000 collected as fine. Dalanwala Police verified in Nalapani and Araghar areas. They issued 10 challans and deposited Rs 1,00,000 collected in penalty. Nehru Colony police conducted verification in Deepnagar, Ganesh Vihar and Rispana Nagar. They issued 47 challans and deposited Rs 4,70,000 collected as fine. Premnagar police conducted verification in Nanda ki Chowki, Bidholi and Kandoli. They issued nine challans and deposited Rs 90,000 collected as penalty. Rajpur police station conducted verification in Jakhan, Doon Vihar, Soniya Basti and Chetna Basti. They issued 18 challans and deposited Rs 1,80,000 collected in fine.
It is pertinent to mention here, as per the sources in few cases police have found that the culprits could find enough time to reconnoitering the area and plan the entire crime as they were living as tenants in residential areas.
